Angela Peri, CSA, Casting Director, Founder/Co-Owner of Boston Casting

With 30 years casting experience in the Boston area, Angela Peri, C.S.A., is the owner and founder of BOSTON CASTING.  A member of the Casting Society of America and an original member of the Massachusetts Production Coalition, Angela founded Boston Casting in 1991, and has cast thousands of national, regional and local productions from feature films to commercials and industrials.  Nominated for 4 Artios Awards, Angela has worked with many of the nation’s top directors. Angela’s recent credits include David O. Russell’s Academy Award® nominated film AMERICAN HUSTLE, and the upcoming JOY, THE FINEST HOURS, BLEED FOR THIS, and CENTRAL INTELLIGENCE. Other recent films include: TED 2, THE FORGER, SEX TAPE, BUSINESS TRIP, TUMBLEDOWN, THE FIGHTER, THE EQUALIZER, THE JUDGE, R.I.P.D., HERE COMES THE BOOM, TED, THE PROPOSAL and LABOR DAY. Angela is the recipient of the 2009 Imaginnaire Award for her vast contributions to the New England production community, and is featured in the Bill Brett book Boston, Inspirational Women. An Italian-American, Angela received the 2014 I Migliori in Mens et Gesta Award from the Pirandello Lyceum for her important contributions to her profession, society and the community. As a retired actress and stand up comedienne, Angela continues to infuse her own brand of humor and experience into causes she is passionate about. Angela lends her expertise to organizations and events related to autism, and is the recipient of the 2013 President’s Award from The Federation of Children with Special Needs, and the 2008 Margaret Bowman award for outstanding parent in the autism community.

Lisa Lobel, Co-Owner/Casting Director

Lisa joined Boston Casting with a teaching background in early childhood and elementary education. She transitioned from teaching to commercial production, working as an on-set child wrangler for clients such as Fisher Price and Hasbro. Lisa joined Angela 1995, rising to the challenge of casting and wrangling over 7,000 local extras for the feature film CELTIC PRIDE. She then went on to cast principals and extras for feature films THE MATCHMAKER and MOONLIGHT MILE.  Now, as a co-owner of the company, Lisa has helped cast principals and extras for feature films such as FEVER PITCH, AMERICAN HUSTLE and THE GAME PLAN. She has also cast hundreds of local and national commercials for clients such as The Connecticut Lottery, Commonwealth Care, SAI Global and Care.com.

Lisa is a fixture in the Boston entertainment community, speaking on panels to talent and students about careers in casting and acting. Lisa was also a featured speaker on a casting panel for the Massachusetts Production Coalition. She has traveled to speak at film festivals and special events, and has recently produced a short film.

Along with day to day casting sessions, Lisa also focuses her efforts on business development for Boston Casting. She was a founder of The Media Performance division of Boston Casting, an acting school and recently launched a new branch, offering personal media coaching for athletes, lawyers and business professionals. Lisa also specializes in innovative technologies for the casting industry, managing the company’s database of over 80,000 local actors and extras.

Lisa and her husband, Eran Lobel, have 3 teenage children and reside in Needham, MA.

Hilary Missan- Casting Director

With Boston Casting since 2007, Hilary specializes in casting commercials, web videos and independent films.   Together with Angela Peri, CSA, Hilary has worked on such films as KNIGHT AND DAY starring Tom Cruise and Cameron Diaz, THE FIGHTER starring Mark Wahlberg, THE PROPOSAL with Sandra Bullock, PINK PATHER 2 with Steve Martin, and WHAT DOESN’T KILL YOU with Mark Ruffalo and Ethan Hawke.  Her television credits include casting for LOUIE on FX and the pilot WAR OF ’04 as well as commercials and web videos for Zip Car, Mass.Lottery, Fidelity, Meineke, VISA, American Express, and Liberty Mutual.  Prior to joining Boston Casting, Hilary ran her own casting office in New York, specializing in theater casting.  She began her career as the resident casting director for The Philadelphia Festival Theater for New Plays based at the University of Pennsylvania.  While there, she singlehandedly cast over 40 world premiere productions of new plays, by such well known playwrights as David Mamet, David Ives, Lee Blessing, Jules Feiffer. Hilary is a graduate of Oberlin College.

Aaron Kahl- Casting Director

Aaron has an MFA in film production and has been with Boston Casting since 2008.  He began as an extras casting director for such films as The Fighter, Edge of Darkness, The Proposal, RIPD, and American Hustle. Aaron currently serves as one of Boston Casting’s primary casting directors for commercials, new media, and real people casting.  He has also served as an associate casting director for principal actors on films such as Ted 2, and the upcoming features, Bleed For This, Central Intelligence, Ghostbusters 3, and Purge 3.

Brittany Shapiro -  Director of Boston Casting’s Media Performance Institute

Brittany relocated to Boston in 2012 after spending some time in Los Angeles, casting both feature films and television programming.  Brittany began as a casting assistant for casting director Joseph Middleton and most recently worked with casting directors Brandi Brice and Dana Gergely on Disney Channel’s hit television series ‘A.N.T. Farm’, and the Disney XD pilot, ‘Shmagreggie Saves the World!”

Prior to Los Angeles, Brittany was the Director of Education for an acting school in the Washington, D.C. area for over four years.  In addition to being the director, she also spent a great deal of time teaching both children and adults beginner and advanced acting courses.  Brittany has a Bachelors Degree in Drama from Syracuse University’s School of Visual and Performing Arts and currently serves as the Director of Boston Casting’s Media Performance Institute.

Elise Wine – Office Manager/Casting Assistant

Born in France, Elise Wine moved to the USA at a young age and grew up in Massachusetts where she quickly discovered her love for theater and film. Elise has always been interested in movies, music and world travel and travels whenever she has the opportunity. She landed her first job working in a movie theater and from there she graduated with a BA from Suffolk University and double majored in Stage Management and Communications. After several unfortunate waitress jobs she joined the Boston Casting team as an intern and quickly moved to Office Manager. Elise loves working for Boston Casting and couldn’t be more excited to be working and living in “Bahsten.”

Sarah Otteman – Extras Casting Director

Sarah has been with Boston Casting since 2011 starting as an intern before becoming joining the extras casting team. Her most recent projects include UNFINISHED BUSINESS, BLEED FOR THIS, JOY, and CENTRAL INTELLIGENCE.  Sarah graduated from Franklin Pierce University in 2009 with a B.A in Theater and Mass Communications.

Jerry Dwyer Jr. – Extras Casting Director

Jerry graduated from Suffolk University in the spring of 2011 with a degree in Film Studies, and spent much of his free time during high school and college involved in student and Indy films. He interned at Boston Casting during the Production of CROOKED ARROWS in 2011 and assisted the Extras Casting Department. Following that experience Jerry began doing freelance camera and editing work for Boston Casting’s acting school, as well as filming audition sessions held at Boston Casting.  Jerry’s freelance involvement with Boston Casting allowed him to wear many hats and to be involved a range of projects including commercial casting, open casting calls, and much more. In 2014 Jerry began working in the Extras Casting Department as the Picture Car Coordinator on the Film THE FINEST HOURS, which is has been the biggest budget film to shoot in MA to date. Following that Jerry has continued to work in Extras Casting on films such as JOY, CENTRAL INTELLIGENCE, and PURGE 3.

Anthony Kanaley – Extras Casting

Anthony is a native to Ogunquit, Maine and started his entertainment career by managing artists in the music industry. He then transitioned into casting by interning and assisting in the collection of antique cars for Disney’s The Finest Hours. Upon completion, he began his career as Picture Cars Casting Director for award winning Director David O. Russell and his film Joy. After finishing the project, he began working with advertising agencies and assembled talent for various commercials and advertising campaigns. Anthony then became Extras Casting assistant for the ABC Family show Chasing Life. Most recently, he has worked on six German Network movies. He is excited for what the future holds and couldn’t be happier living in the city of Boston.

Mike Clifford – Extras Casting

Mike started as an intern with Boston Casting in the summer of 2014. With Boston Casting in the extras department, he has been involved in films such as Ted 2, Joy,  Central Intelligence, Measure of a Man, and Super Troopers 2. Prior to Boston Casting, Mike was pursuing a professional basketball career until a string of injuries including a torn achilles abruptly ended his basketball career. It was during Mike’s recovery when he began working in film and made the decision to pursue that, over basketball. Mike attended the University of Buffalo and Merrimack College where he earned a Bachelors Degree in communication.

Ann Baker- Casting Director

Started her career in the business in 1977,working with American Residuals and Talent, a casting and paymaster company.  In 1980, she went out on her own as Ann Baker Casting.  Working in film, television, and theatrical communities, Ann is a seasoned casting director.  From 1982 to 1990, she served as the New England casting liaison for ABC-NY, and was the casting director for the ABC-TV series “Spenser: For Hire,” the feature film Mr. North produced by John Huston, the Emmy Award winning PBS series “Concealed Enemies,” a CBS movie of the week First Affair, and The Gathering Part II for NBC. For 11 years she ran her own full-service organization, Ann Baker Casting Company. She is a recognized leader in the development of the industrial film market and has worked with producers from Digital, General Electric, Raytheon, and the AMA. When not casting, Ann specializes in  Coaching beginner and advanced on camera commercial technique.
